Description
My original, award-winning custom LEGO tuxedo cat! (Designed in 2013 with realistic shaping and whiskers. 😺) Using advanced building techniques, this custom brick-built pet is a replica of my black and white cat, Cooper, when he was about one year old. (‘Coopie’ is a beloved rescue pet that my family adopted from the local humane society. I did my best to evoke his personality and expression in this build.)
The three-dimensional sculpture model incorporates an optional Power Functions lighting system for the eyes, along with moving ears and rotating front paws. The model is a neat display piece and conversation-starter for you, your family/friends, and cat lovers everywhere! If you like my replica LEGO ‘tuxie’ cat, please support my work and purchase a set of instructions. Thank you so much!
[Featured in The Brothers Brick, Gizmodo, Rebrick, The Brick Collectors magazine, the book Beautiful LEGO: Wild! by Mike Doyle, and on display at the LEGO Brand Retail store in Tigard, Oregon. My Cat Cooper also won the ‘Committee Favorite’ award at Bricks Cascade 2019. The brick-built pet has been shown prominently across AFOL Flickr and at the top of Google search results for ‘lego cat’ for years.]

The model requires 1,326 LEGO pieces, not included, and it’s super easy to buy all the parts you need (if you don’t have them already). Click here to download the parts lists if you’d like to shop the required pieces ahead of time. Note: I’ve separated out the optional ‘Power Functions’ parts for the light-up eyes into another file for easy shopping. You can also find and use your own custom and/or third-party LEGO lighting solutions.
When you buy these instructions, you’ll receive my easy-to-follow guide. This way, you can automatically create a shopping list for everything you need with the provided XML code. You can also watch a 10min tutorial here where I explain the process step-by-step: it’s quite simple and less expensive to do yourself than buying a kit.
* The parts cost for this model, when you order directly from BrickLink, is approximately $87 USD plus shipping. This is significantly cheaper than buying a similarly sized and prepackaged kit with all the pieces included. Such a custom kit would likely be in the $250–400 range with the added labor, inventory, and other markups. Click here to learn more about the easy parts-buying process for Brick Replicas.
