My lifesize LEGO replica of the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW), which is used by the US Armed Forces.
[Read more about the real gun here.]
The full-scale LEGO brick-built machine gun contains the following features:
- Pull-back trigger, which activates vibrating ammo belt and realistic cycling noise (i.e. hidden motorized function).
- Opening action and racking bolt, so that weapon can be ‘locked and loaded.’
- Interchangeable box- or magazine-feed, and both can be durably carried by the body of the gun.
- Both the barrel change handle and buttstock wire support flip for a better working feel.
- Working, foldout bi-pod actually supports the full weight of the weapon.
- Realistic look-down iron sights are included and improve the ‘aiming’ experience.
- The push-button safety slides through both sides of pistol grip for an extra layer of function.
The SAW was one of my most challenging and rewarding replica weapons to build, so it’s definitely a favorite of mine. One of the more intimidating things that I’ve displayed on my MOC shelf!
No building instructions currently exist for this LEGO model, but if you would like to buy some in order to build your own LEGO M249, send me a message.
