Introduction
The original “Mark 2 combat knife” was introduced to the United States Marine Corps in 1942 and also adopted by the US Navy. The design provided both fighting and utility applications, was inexpensive to manufacture, and saw frequent use in the Pacific Theater of World War II. While various firms produced the blade during the war, the Union Cutlery Company and its ‘KA-BAR’ trademark became most closely associated with the knife.
The KA-BAR went on to serve in other wars and is an extremely iconic weapon. My goal in this project was to design a display-worthy replica that captures the USMC fighting knife’s sharp profile and brings this famous artifact to life in LEGO bricks.

Precise Proportions
My top goal in this new LEGO design was to accurately recreate the size, angles, and proportions of the real fighting knife as much as possible. I used plenty of reference and research to meticulously check the brickbuilt model against the original.
Fun to Handle
The knife model is sturdy enough to hold at any angle.
Designed for Display
This custom LEGO KA-BAR model also comes with a display stand. I wanted to make a refined piece of history and culture that’s enjoyable to have on one’s desk, shelf, or mantle at home (especially for any LEGO fans who have served with the US Marines). The stand allows the blade to be shown in multiple positions.
