When the US Military began running out of M1911 pistols during World War I, they began producing a revolver substitute in 1917 as part of a contract with both Smith & Wesson and Colt. Chambered in 0.45 caliber like the 1911, the M1917 also went on to see action in World War II.

My lifesize LEGO replica of the M1917 revolver is modeled after the version manufactured by Smith & Wesson. The pictures below show my updated, second LEGO version of the classic handgun, completed in February 2022.
This lifesize handgun replica features a rotating cylinder, swing-out gate mechanism, pull-back trigger, and moving hammer.
The 2022 update follows my original design from July 2012 and features new LEGO elements, more advanced building techniques, greater durability, and improved realism, along with an all-new display stand and building instructions. I also recently updated my LEGO M1911 pistol, seen here.
Building instructions are available for this design!
