This custom LEGO Colt / Remington Rand 1911 pistol is designed as a premium display piece and looks like an ultimate collector’s LEGO gun set. It features:
- advanced building techniques
- spring-loaded slide trigger
- look-down iron sights
- pull-back hammer
Each of my realistic Brick Replicas takes about 20–30hrs to research and design by hand (and at least another 10–20hrs to produce the professional-grade instructions): there’s no shortcut to this level of realism and quality. I have limited time available outside of my full-time job and taking care of family, and I want to provide you with the most realistic replicas and the best building experience… so if you like my work and want to see more new stuff come out, please purchase a set of instructions. How to Upload XML Code to BrickLink
- Open the .rtf file containing XML code.
- Copy the entire contents of the text starting with “<INVENTORY>”.
- Go to https://bricklink.com.
- Create an account on BrickLink if you don’t have one yet. Make sure you’re signed in.
- In the drop-down menu options under your profile, select “My Wanted Lists”.
- There will be several tab options in your ‘Wanted Lists’ section; select “Upload”.
- Select the sub-tab “Upload BrickLink XML format”. Then, under the ‘Add to:’ drop-down menu, choose “Create New Wanted List” and give it a name.
- Paste the entire text you copied in Step 2.
- Click “Proceed to verify Items”; at this point you should see the list of parts you need to purchase.
- You can now buy all the parts you need by selecting this newly created wanted list from your My Wanted Lists section and either choosing the ‘Easy Buy’ button or clicking into the wanted list and choosing ‘Buy All’ for more cart-creation options (e.g. limiting sellers/stores to only those from your country, etc.).Pro tip: If you have multiple models you’re shopping for (e.g. gun and display stand and display plaque), it’s highly recommended you upload all their parts to the same Wanted List so that you can more easily combine them into the smallest possible number of shopping carts / stores / orders placed at the same time for less expensive shipping.
If you encounter any parts errors (for example, parts 3062b, 3068b, 3069b and/or 3070b) when trying to upload your parts list code to BrickLink, open the text file with XML code in a text editor app, search for those codes (Command+F or Ctrl+F) and delete the ‘b’ or other add-on letter in each code. If you encounter any further issues, please contact me.
*Please note: The original version of the display stand (visible in second slider image at top) uses rare printed 1×1 letter tiles to spell out ‘US M1911A1’, but these pieces are not recommended unless you already own them in your parts collection as they are increasingly expensive to acquire (I’ve seen them go for $4–9 each!). I’ve included the original version of the parts list / instructions as optional in the instructions pack and parts list files just in case you like this version.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Does this 1911 model use light- or dark-gray bricks?
A: The main color featured in my M1911A1 pistol is ‘dark bluish gray’ (DBG) with ‘reddish brown’ on the grip and ‘light bluish gray’ is peeking out of the ejector port. The darker gray color appears brighter in the photos due to the abundant lighting reflecting off of the shiny plastic pieces. If the LEGO Group ever produces enough of the right pieces in their ‘pearl dark gray’ color, I’ll jump at the chance to design this model in that more gunmetal shade!
Q: Does the slide work / does the LEGO gun actually shoot?
A: Each of my Brick Replicas are designed primarily as non-firing display models. While the gun models do have some fun ‘working’ features such as trigger-pulls, pull-back hammers, look-down sights, etc., it’s a higher priority for me to aim for visual realism (aesthetics) first, durability second, and then mechanical features third. A lot of working functions simply won’t fit within the 1:1 scale dimensions / proportions of the subject matter without resorting to non-official or modified pieces like loose springs, etc.

When I first saw the Brick Replica 1911, I knew I had to have it. It is genuinely a masterpiece of LEGO design. It fits so nicely in my hand, and looks spectacular on my bookshelf. The adjustable hammer and pull-able trigger are icing on the cake. It’s a true 1:1 replica that gets a lot of looks from folks, and the funny thing is, I actually have to tell them it’s made out of LEGO bricks! I couldn’t recommend it enough.
